Virtual summit facilitated the participation of nearly 2,000 people in diversity and inclusion training in a cost effective manner and with low environmental impact.
(3BL Media) Gaithersburg, MD – June 29, 2012 – Profiles in Diversity Journal, a bi-monthly magazine focusing on diversity and inclusion in business, government, non-profit, higher education and military settings, has recognized Sodexo with a 2012 Innovations in Diversity Award which honors corporations, organizations, and institutions that have developed innovative solutions that offer measurable outcomes in the area of workforce diversity and inclusion. Sodexo’s Virtual Diversity and Business Leadership Summit (VDBLS) was considered to be an exciting initiative which enhanced diversity and inclusion and showcased the unique and out of the box thinking employed by Sodexo.
“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to ensure greater access to our diversity and inclusion training and development though the use of technology,” said Rohini Anand, senior vice president and global chief diversity officer. “I am particularly proud that we were able to find synergy between our commitment to sharing diversity best practices and our regard for sustainable business practices by reducing the carbon foot print this event would normally require,” added Anand.
The learning events and activities presented through VDBLS focused on building skills, knowledge and awareness around different dimensions of diversity. In addition to learning events, live chats and networking opportunities, participants could visit the online Resource Center to download and view diversity related materials and research to support learning, development, and performance. Additionally, with the Virtual Summit being available for a seven month period, the content was accessible to a wider audience, for a much longer period than the traditional, in-person Summit.
